Original WW2 Dated ATS Denim Overalls

Original WW2 Dated ATS Denim Overalls

Code: 55977

SOLD

An original Second World War Auxiliary Territorial Service combination suit in excellent condition.

This pattern of coveralls came into issue with the ATS in the early part of the Second World War and were officially designated 'A.T.S. Overalls Combination Denim'. Made from the same green denim material as the mens two piece denim battledress and tank suit; these overalls feature a patch pocket to the right breast, slash pockets to the hips and a mandarin collar - typical of overalls made in the first half of the 20th century. Originally the overalls would have been fitted with stamped brass buttons at the factory but these have been changed for period plastic examples. Changing brass buttons to plastic was not uncommon during WW2 as they are much easier to use. To the rear of the overalls is a cinchback belt and buckle.

The original label is no longer present but these overalls usually date from 1942 as there was a large order placed for them in that year.

The overalls will suit around a 32" bust depending on desired fit. When laid flat they measures -

Chest - 20"
Waist - 16 1/2"
Inside arm - 16 3/4"
Outside arm - 22 1/2"
Shoulders - 15 3/4"
inside leg - 27"

The coveralls are in very good condition as can be seen in the pictures and display well. They have clearly never been washed as they still have that crisp, new feel to them. Overall they are a very fine example but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that these are a vintage, pre worn pair of trousers, which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A really good set of wartime ATS overalls which are in great condition.
